• Selous Camp

With a dream location right on the border of Selous Game Reserve, wildlife travels freely into our concession area and camp providing close game viewing around our private waterhole.

Selous Camp provides two completely private settings for our guests with luxury tented accommodation for ultimate comfort and independent budget camping for more adventurous travellers.

Luxury tented accommodation

Selous Camp has six luxurious permanent tented accommodation sites, carefully positioned for privacy and with views over the waterhole.

Our open-air dining and bar area also overlooks the waterhole, so guests can watch the wildlife with a cocktail in hand. There’s also a swimming pool where guests can cool down after a hot day on safari.

Our canvas safari tents are 45m² (53y²) and have a private ensuite bathroom with hot rain head shower and flushing toilet. There’s also a large veranda offering spectacular views of the waterhole.

The tents are classically outfitted with wooden furniture and the beds are made up with heavy cotton sheets and mosquito nets.

The dining and bar area provides a focal point for socialising, relaxing and wildlife spotting by day and by night. While guests may eat breakfast and lunch at different times, or choose to take a meal or morning or afternoon tea with them on a game drive or river safari, evening meals are enjoyed around a shared table with other guests and guides to help spot nocturnal wildlife and share safari stories.

Our chefs create simple, healthy meals from local ingredients and, with advance notice, we can cater for any special dietary needs.

Depending on how many guests are in camp there may be one staff member for every guest. Which means we can attend to your every need during your stay.

Fly camping

We also offer a small camping area for budget travellers who want to visit Selous or experience a fly camping safari organised by us. This offers an affordable option for people to explore the area and experience the adventure of fly camping.

Fly camping safaris enable our guests to spend a night or two in the reserve. Our staff will accompany you to the camp and look after you the whole time. Our fly camps include sleeping tents, a kitchen area where a chef will cook for you and a campfire for evenings under the stars.

After a game drive on the way to camp, you’ll have the afternoon soak up the atmosphere. In the late afternoon you may choose to explore the area with a walking or boat safari. Before dusk falls, your guide will escort you safely back to camp where you can watch the sunset with an evening drink. Later you’ll enjoy sitting round the fire, watching the stars come out and eating a hot meal.

You’ll fall asleep in your tent to the sounds of the African bush, lions roaring & hyenas chatting whilst hunting and wake early for a new adventure.
